Facial Moisturizing

Depending on your skin type, and what works for your routine, after your Oil Cleansing Method and Raw Honey Facial Cleanser, you may want to add a moisturizer (I like to dab a little on).  This is another instance where you just need a good oil: Jojoba Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, are just some of the options.  The oil will moisturize without clogging pores, and help to attract your bodies natural oils out of your skin, helping to reduce acne breakouts (I explain this process more thoroughly  under the Oil Cleansing Method).

Items Needed:
  • Your favorite moisturizing oil

  1. Put 1tsp, more or less as needed, into the palm of your hand
  2. Rub your hands together to distribute evenly between them, then rub allover your face, neck, decolletage, and tops of shoulders

  • I prefer jojoba oil for my moisturizing even though it can be more expensive, because it is the closest to our naturally occurring oils (it only takes a little bit, so it lasts a while)
  • If I am applying night moisturizer, I use more oil, but in the morning I a just dab a light layer, or add a small amount to my tinted moisturizer (see 10-min makeup)
  • Argan Oil is also a nice option, but it is another expensive one
  • I don't use coconut oil on my face because it is comedogenic, which means it can cause acne by clogging pores (some people can use it without problems, but I only recommend it for the body); however, I do find that it works well under my eyes
  • You can also add lavender essential oil to your oil, (just the one you use for moisturizing, not if you will use the same bottle for cleansing or eye makeup remover); it's very soothing at night, and lavender essential oil can help heal blemishes faster.  About 10 drops per 80z.*

*Always check with your doctor before using essential oils, because some are unsafe in the early stages of pregnancy, or throughout the entirety of it.  They are natural, but still potent.  Use and store properly away from curious small children (lemon essential oil is NOT drinkable lemon juice).
